Why are Converse shoes so popular?

How Long Does Dr. Martens Last?

Dr. Martens is a British footwear company that specializes in boots and shoes well known for their durability. Dr. Martens are often associated with the punk and skinhead subcultures, as they have been worn by many members of those groups since the late 1960s.

The question remains: How long does Dr. Martens shoes last? The answer is simpler than you might think but it's not a yes or no answer because every shoe varies in wear-and-tear depending on how old it is, how often it's been worn, and what kind of environment its wearer lives in. In general though, Dr. Martens lasts for about three years before they become too scuffed and/or worn out.

Doc Martens Sizing guide

Doc Martens sizing is not as easy as picking up a pair of shoes from the shelf and wearing them. You need to measure your feet. There are three measurements you have to take, and then use our size conversion chart to find the right fit for you.

To get started, make sure your Doc Martens are flat on the floor and take measurements in centimeters:

1) Your foot length: Measure from the heel of your shoe to your longest toe (in cm)

2) Your foot width: Measure at its widest point across the ball of your foot (in cm).

3) Your heel-to-toe difference (in cm). This is the distance between your longest toe and the back of your heel:

Now, let's use these three measurements to find you the right fit.

For example, if your foot length is 26cm, your foot width is 11cm and your heel-to-toe difference is 4cm, then you need to order a size 40.0 (26 x 11 / 4 = 40.0).

If you're in between sizes, go up one size. If you're in between widths, go down a width. We recommend going down half a size from your normal shoe size for comfort and durability, but it's ultimately up to you.

**Please note: Your weight can affect your sizing. When you're buying shoes online (or elsewhere without trying them on), there are extra factors involved that we don't have control over. So do take that into account when buying online or measuring your feet for the first time.**

*All Doc Martens boots and shoes are made to standard foot length measurements as shown above. Your shoe size remains the same when converting from one shoe style to another: e.g. size 8 boots will fit the same as size 8 lace ups, and size 38 EU boots will fit the same as size 38 EU lace ups etc. This means you can take a pair of lace ups that normally fit you, and wear them in all-weather boots (or vice versa), without having to re-order your usual/standard shoe size in each case.

Do Doc Martens run true to size?

There are people who will say yes and there are those that insist no. There is a possibility it does run true to size at times but most people will say no. Why do some shoes run true to size and others not? Let's start with this basic anatomy, also known as the Achilles tendon that runs down the back of your heel. The Achilles tendon is like a rubber band, where it wants to move but it can't move. It connects the muscles to the rest of your leg so it's not going anywhere unless you want it too. Another thing that helps with sizing is if you have wide feet then Doc Martens won't be running true-to-size for you.

Now let's look at the stuff above their toes. There are usually no problems with the width of your foot but on most shoes your toes will have a very small bump and this will often cause issues. Your Doc Martens boots are actually made of leather, which is a thick, durable material. So if your feet are wide then you are going to want to consider getting them in a wide size. Something else you may want to consider is if you have stubby or narrow toes. If these things are true for you then getting those boots in a wide size will help.
